عن بداياته، خط التجاني الماحي بيده في كتاب صغير اسمه R.S. Woodworth. Handbook of Psychology: a study of mental life, 1925 (هذا الكتاب أهداه لي الصديق العزيز اسماعيل أفندي الأزهري في يوم 6\6\1936 وهو كتابه الذي قرأه في علم النفس بالجامعة الإمريكية (في بيروت)، وهو أول كتاب في علم النفس أقرأه) ويواصل في مكان آخر من نفس الكتاب (أهداه لي في أول سنة تخرجت فيها، وكان له أثره في إثارة اهتمامي بالطب النفسي الذي تخصصت فيه فيما بعد وأصبح مجالي الذي كرست له حياتي كطبيب). وعند عودته إختصاصياً في الطب النفسي حمل نفس الكتاب لأزهرى ليمهره له بتوقيعه مرة أخرى مشيراً إشارة دقيقة المعنى لفضل رجل عليه وعرفاناً بفضله. في نهاية ستينات القرن المنصرم، تتلمذت في الطب النفسي في كلية الطب، جامعة الخرطوم على يدي الدكتور التجاني الماحي، وتوثقت في تلك الفترة أيضاً صلتي به وتعرفت على أكثر كتاباته التي نشرها في مجلات بعيدة عن متناول أغلب القراء، وأطلعت على التقارير العديدة التي كتبها حين كان مستشاراً للصحة النفسية لإقليم شرق حوض البحر الأبيض المتوسط، وعلى نصوص المحاضرات التي ألقاها في المحافل المختلفة، زيادة ع

بروفيسور داؤود مصطفى خالد (1917-2008) التحق بمدرسة كتشنر الطبية في 1936م تخرج في 1940م التحق بالمصلحة الطبية السودانية في 1943. عمل في الخرطوم، أم درمان، مروي، سورسيبو، ود مدني، وعطبرة. نال عضوية كلية الأطباء الملكية، لندن في 1952. عمل مدرساً غير متفرغ بكلية الطب جامعة الخرطوم حتى 1958 عين محاضر أول في الطب الباطني في 1958. رقي أستاذاً في الطب الباطني في 1965. عين عميداً لكلية الطب جامعة الخرطوم في 1974. عين نائباً لمدير جامعة الخرطوم في 1974. منح لقب أستاذ ممتاز في 1975. أنشأ قسم الأمراض العصبية في مستشفى الشعب في 1985.    

 انطلاقة مشروع توثيق التراث الطبي السوداني فبراير 2009 عبد الحميد إبراهيم وبروفيسور أحمد محمد الحسن يدعوان لدعم مشروع توثيق التراث الطب السوداني.  الندوة تطالب بالتفكير في الوسائل السريعة اللازمة للحصول على التمويل اللازم من الدولة لهذا المشروع الوطني الكبير. المتحدثون ينادون بشراكة ذكية بين المؤسسة السودانية للتراث الطبي وغيرها لتوثيق التراث العلمي ليس فقط في الطب بل في القطاعات المختلفة خصوصاً الزراعية والبيطرية والتعليم. طرحت المؤسسة السودانية للتراث الطبي على لسان مؤسسها ومديرها التنفيذي بروفيسور أحمد الصافي أستاذ التخدير بكلية الخرطوم للعلوم الطبية، (مشروع توثيق التراث الطبي السوداني) في ندوة محضورة في قاعة الدكتور محمد عبد الحي بمركز (طيبة برس) يوم الخميس 26 فبراير 2009. والمؤسسة السودانية للتراث الطبي مؤسسة وطنية خيرية مقرها الخرطوم وتعنى بدراسة النظم الطبية والتراث الطبي السوداني بغرض توثيقه والحفاظ عليه ونشره والتوعية به. امتلأت القاعة على سعتها بكبار العلماء والأطباء والصيادلة والبياطرة والباحثين من مختلف ضروب العلوم البيولوجية والإنسانية وبالصحفيين

Dr Mohamed Hamad Satti (1910-2005) has been a prominent member of the medical profession in Sudan for over half a century. His extensive contributions to medicine in general, and tropical medicine field and laboratory work specifically, deserve respect and admiration. Dr Satti started research and teaching in the most important tropical diseases soon after his becoming a medical officer in Singa. Ever since, he had been at the forefront of tropical medicine in Sudan and elsewhere in the world. Prof. Ahmed Mohamed El-Hassan the pathologist, researcher, teacher and mentor was born in 1930. He attained the Diploma of Kitchener School of Medicine (DKSM) in 1955 with distinctions and prizes in Medicine and Surgery, and winning Kitchener Memorial Prize. In 1960, he was awarded the Diploma of Clinical Pathology (DCP) from the University of London and in 1964, PhD, University of Edinburgh. Prof El-Hassan was a founding member/fellow of the Royal College of Pathology in England (RCPath) in 1964, and was the first Sudanese to be granted its Fellowship.
